The Marietta High School Youth Apprenticeship program is a great opportunity for students to gain practical skills and learn about working in their potential fields of study. The process of contacting the program and selecting a student was very simple and we received both assistance and support from the coordinators every step of the way. The program has been mutually beneficial to the student and to us. We have had an extremely pleasant experience with both the coordinators and the student. We look forward to our continued relationship with the program.

As you know, K.V joined our team this semester to shadow our group as a high school intern. She just gave us an end of semester presentation that exceeded our expectations immensely. She is wise beyond her years and has a bright future ahead of her. Coming into this shadow opportunity as a high school student, both K.V and our group were a little uncertain how involved her activities would be on our projects as it relates to software capabilities and tasks. What we learned was simply asking her to shadow a project team for the short time she was here was the right approach. She was able to follow the CHOA VDC project team; Michael, Rosa, K.V, Andrew and Mitchell by sitting in and listening to coordination meetings, and allowing time to talk to the team members after the meetings to ask questions. She was also able to talk with Christina about our general practice and participate in our training courses Christina has setup.
She has expressed her appreciation for the opportunity, and this internship has opened her eyes on opportunities in her career choices and further enhanced her excitement about the AEC industry.
Thank you for pursuing this relationship with a local high school to allow their students to shadow our group. We look forward to hearing about where K.V goes in her career and wish her the best as she moves on to her next adventure.
